![]() The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care Appeal and Review Boards Act, 1998 created the Health Services Appeal and Review Board. The Act amalgamated five tribunals - the Health Services Appeal Board, the Health Facilities Appeal Board, the Health Protection Board, the Nursing Homes Review Board and the Laboratory Review Board—to form the Health Services Appeal and Review Board (the Appeal Board). The Appeal Board is an independent quasi-judicial tribunal. It has a review and appeal mandate under fourteen different statutes. These are:
The majority of the Appeal Board’s work involves hearing appeals under the Health Insurance Act, the Health Protection and Promotion Act, the Long-Term Care Act, and the Independent Health Facilities Act.
